    Master Caster Purchase

Well, I did it. Finally pulled the trigger on a Master Caster. I was getting tired of hunching over my Lee furnace.

Anyway, with shipping, it will set me back a little more than $1K. The folks at Magma told me it would be 3 - 5 weeks before it would ship. A couple of good things: Magma won't charge you until the unit ships, and the MC purchase comes supplied with one mold block of your choice.

Fingers crossed that it will have been a good purchase!

Does it have PID temp control or is that an option?

I believe the PID is an option. For now, I'll have to make due in manual mode.

Check to see how much extra the PID is, if there is any way you can swing it believe me, it is a game changer.

I don't have the Master Caster, just the Magma 40 pound pot and I added the PID. Just like the air pressure for the Star Lubrisizer that I told myself for years I didn't need, once I got it all I could think was . . . WOW, what was I thinking.

Are these tools mandatory? Nope, but once you use them . . . Well, WOW.

    Hey Rick,

I just checked Magmas website. I can get the PID upgrade factory installed for a total price of $1195. (its $200 for the PID unit).

You don't save any money buying it with the press. In fact you could add it later and keep the standard setup as a backup in case the PID ever breaks.

I have one and I enjoy it. I can cast while leaning back with my feet on the table watching a movie. Hovering over a lee pot puts a knot in my back

Yep. Life has been good to me lately. Still waiting for the MC to get here. Might be a couple more weeks...Should be a fun "toy" to play with.
