This little thread really portrays the common element of this web site..........there is 2 photos and what holds #1 priority in this gentleman's mind..........the bullet.........second the deer...............this cast bullet mania has sterling moments of positive re-enforcement when
all goes as planned and keeps people including myself mentally occupied trying to keep all the variables in line resulting in these moments of true success.........I too am hoping to post photos
of my en devour getting my 40-65 sharps slinging 400 gr bullets for my up coming Buffalo hunt
that I have been drawn on here........anyway this struck me as really interesting.........

Good job, Ben! Pretty boolit, nice buck. Looks like a mature buck so will be good to get him out of the herd.
It's a good-looking boolit, Ron. Would kinda like to see the rifle but I'm funny that way.

Nice work. Could use more details like alloy, shot placement and lenght of shot. Inquiring minds like to know.

Alloy was air cooled wheel weights. Shot through the lungs, distance 80 yards.

The rifle is a TIKKA , 30-06 with a Redfield 6 X 18 Variable scope with an A/O. The rifle is a real nail driver.

............Good deal Ben! So what did the boolit do, sail on through, shed it's nose, hit any bone? Was it an old fashioned deer that pretty much died right there, or was it one of those new modern deer that was indignant it hadn't been shot with some patented technowhizz 180gr SPBT at 3150 fps?

    Rick,

I didn't get the expansion I was looking for, but the bullet managed to pass in between ribs without hitting one of them.

The deer is dead, none the less.

Nice deer Ben. It looks like a big body deer so it will make lots of good meat. I used to try to get the wife to cover up the vension taste and get that "you can't tell its deer" taste, but thankfully now I like the taste of vension. Not that I like the taste of an old buck, but I will eat it if I harvest it.

Nice Deer! Also very nice shooting, I wish I could pull off groups that size with something resembling regularity!
