    Are the 1950s 8mm Mauser ammo cans tin?

    Really? I would think it is steel, or tin plated steel at the most. Are you sure it's not just referenced as tin like "a tin can?"

    i melted my 8mm turkish mauser tin and it tested positive for zinc with muriatic acid . dont mix it in your tin or lead , know one guy who ruined some lead by doing this , test your melted ingot (once it sets and cools ) with muriatic acid if it bubbles its zinc
