Would you mind doing that and report back?

A GB on that would be awesome. wink

    Thanks

I wonder if we could get it for, say $1.50 a pound or so? I'll put up $200 toward a bid if Mike can honcho it.

I'm going to put a thread in the GB discussion area with a poll to see if there would be interest in this solder.
I can't finance any of the bulk purchase but would be interested in some thru a GB.
This will be a discussion to gather interest.
I'll be back to this post and add a link to that thread.

Hope this is ok on the site.

    Roger

Edit: here is the other thread with a poll on price you'd be willing to pay for solder in a GB.

In the other thread there is another member that may be interested in bidding.
I would suggest that if any of you are going to bid that you pm between each other so as not to run the bid up between members.

Let's try and get this for a reasonable price.

Unless I hear differently from Mike 60, I will let him bid on this solder.

    Yowser!!

This auction took a big jump from $240 to $640 since yesterday.

That's still a great price for a clean tin source though.

I noticed that too. Hope it stays under about 1200.00 or so.

I think it is probably going to go on the high side, but I'm going to try and get it, if reasonable at all.

    Thanks for the effort Mike_60.

I am sure you beat out all the guys buying it to sell as scrap, but if a guy was buying it to use for solder and not boolit alloy, He will go up to $5.00 a pound without blinking an eye.

It's better to try than not, and then see it go for 75¢ a pound and we would all be kicking ourselves.

That does not include the 10% auction fee charged when the bid is awarded to the high bidder. BTW, the system showed me, I would have had to bid $1880 to top the other bidder and he would have had 15 minutes to respond. These auctions have a fifteen minute rule. Estimating at that price, then adding shipping to everyone, and if it didn't go up anymore than that, it would be beyond what everyone indicated they would be will to pay. While I'm sure I could have eventually recovered my money 'at present' I could not get a couple grand tied up in the hopes of getting it back eventually. Maybe, if this happened before vacation, but the timing was a little off for me this time.
