Chamber Casting Alloys Cerrosafe vs Rotometals

Can anyone tell me the difference between these 2 chamber casting alloys? Is Cerrosafe worth the premium cost?

I just got one from Rotometals.
    Haven't tried it yet.
Looks strange. But I have nothing to compare it to, so I'll just try it and see what happens.

I the old days we used sulphur and I had a chart for shrinkage after so many hours. I bought my Cerro safe years ago and it's still working so if you figure in 20 years of use it's not so bad.

KSCO I have had sulphur or sulfur chamber casts made decades ago but someone else did them. Can you tell me where to get directions on doing one and where to get materials? Thanks! Chill Wills

I'm willing to bet the Rotometals alloy is the same as cerrosafe. You need the time / shrinkage chart for those.

Sulpher mixed with powdered graphite does not shrink or expand once cooled and makes measurements a little more straight forward. It does require a higher melting temp though.

I bought the cerrosafe before I knew that Rotometals had an alternative.....subsequently, a buddy bought rotometals....I have used some of his (their smallest qty is pretty much a lifetime supply!) and I think they are the same. Rotometals is a deal if you have a buddy to share with. Both Brownells and Rotometals are four star outfits to deal with.
