Critique my annealing

I'm just getting into this, I have tempilaq in 250, 350, 650 and 750.

I did some cases after what I thought was a good test run, then I adjusted the angle and intensity of the flames because the mounts were getting pretty hot. The second batch ( I retested the flame) seemed a bit more annealed to me.

So I'd like your opinions about my average test case, the two bottom ones are 350 and 250, the upper one was 750, it pretty much burnt up most of the residue is because i've reused the case a few times. Does anyone think I've over annealed the base?

Looks fine to me. The 250 and the 350 didn't go clear so you are fine. I know some people like to put the tempilaq on the inside of the case neck instead of on the outside.

I can't tell much from your photos. If you are using propane for heat, just don't let the flame change from blue to orange.

This video shows a tad too much note the change in flame color at the end of the cycle.




This is what you want, flame remains blue, even heating around the case and can be held by hand out of the flame.

what happens if the flame changes color like that? I believe mine did due to having the torches close to the case, I notice your torches are much further away but turned up higher, I turn mine down low trying to get a pencil flame out of it it's barely on but not running like a jet engine.

Anyway what negative effects will I see? and how far down is too far for the 250/350 to melt?

The orange flame is caused by the zinc being burned off. What you are left with is more copper and less neck tension.
