Yep, it works for me. I did a lot of weighing/testing and found that most of the time it was less than 0.2 gn. With my shooting ability (or lack thereof!) that sort of variation is irrelevant. I'm not aiming to enter the Olympics, I'm only doing this for my enjoyment. I'm currently using 25 gns. of FFFg in an Uberti Remington .44 and 60 gns. in a custom .45 Kentucky longrifle so 0.2 - 0.4 gn variation won't make much difference to me. I would probably get that sort of variation if I just used a volume measure anyway.

Am not a powder thrower - yet. Just made my self a couple of dippers and rechecked them on my RCBS 5-0-5. they do drop the red dot at 4.5 grains as planned.
So, what kind of accuracy can one expect from ,say,a Lee powder thrower ? I do have a Lyman 55 packed away, must dust it off and learn to use it...

    TIA

From a post I made on another thread.

Funny, but the Lee Powder Measure has been proven to be one of the most accurate mass produced measures out their.

I use a lee powder measure and a Dillon. Either one works real good and some powders just will not meter as well as others. The scale on the lee is not usable unless you use the conversion table in the instruction paper that came with it and it gets you close. I find it has trouble metering red dot well. Kind of touchy if you go fast or slow, tap the barrel during a cycle etc... But I do use it.

Now I can talk about it:
the instructions say- SMART RELOADER SR 400, designed in Italy, yada yada.
Put it all to gether, need to fix a permanent handle tomorrow.
Ran 2 hoppers through it- 4227 and 3031 equivalent, preceded by about 50g of graphite powder.A lot smoother now.Never used a Lee type powder thrower, so will see how it meters over a few weeks, obviously using a Lee scale...
I now have a Lee press, a Lee scale and a Lee rip off powder thrower. So, no more dissing the Lee

I assume you intended to say the Lee Precision products "...are poor quality, and wear out very fast." Instead, you stated that your friends "...are poor quality and wear out very fast." Memo to Lead Fred, learn what a pronoun is used for, and please do not gratuitously and categorically bash a very fine site sponsor, Lee Precision.

While I also cant use pronouns, I darn sure use Lee products. While I don't use all their products, this thread is about powder measures and the Lee works flawless. They are also MADE IN AMERICA, and if you have a problem you can speak directly with John Lee. Bet that wont happen in China.

So I ran a couple more hoppers thru it and got a baffle in place. Definitely smoother Marked out the OPEN and CLOSED positions so that I don't have a lap ful of powder if I lift the hopper off.
    Handle hopefully tomorrow.
Got around to checking out the links that JCWitt provided.
    Thanks JC.
Impressive numbers on the Lee PPM variance If this one is a thinly disguised clone, I hope it performs similarly.
    Cheers

Anyone one that uses a Lee or this knock off of a Lee perfect is perfectly insane.

They are inaccurate, wear out in a few uses junk.

Use junk, and you increase the chance of mishaps

no one wants mishaps, they cost body parts most of the time

They also can cause you to have a room full of ten in a row silhouette pins. Really really hard on chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams. They hate Lee.

I'm a lower volume reloader so I weigh each load...I use lee dippers to get close and then weigh them on a 5-0-5 RCBS scale that I bought used many years ago...I tried to use the Lee measure but my problem is that the settings are almost impossible to read...I guess the "throws" were fine once I developed my "technique and rhythm" but changing settings was just too much hassle. I don't purposely buy Chicom stuff...I know it's everywhere and components are in almost all our daily use products but I'd not buy something that is knowingly built in China. I have a Lee Classic Cast breech lock press and a Lee breech lock hand press and all Lee dies, etc..I also use an old style (round) Lee autoprime hand primer...

The Lee PPM is one of the most accurate measures on the market. It has performed well in every comparison test. It is not junk. If anything it's a bargain at its cost.
