Savage Model 12 BVSS .308 win

I am considering buying one of these rifles to shoot cast bullets. Anyone here own one or have any details on what I should expect.

    Thanks,
    Clay M

The thing I like about this rifle is the 1/10" twist. My other .308's have a 1/12"

These rifles are big with the Cast bullet association for benchrest competition .They use the Lyman 311299 bullet that weighs about 200 grs .This gun is at the top of my list.

Though not a cast shooter for rifles, Savages are great as you can do all your own work on them. Might be interesting to hear how many cast 308 loads it takes to burn a throat out

They obliterated ALL the CBA records for factory rifles within a year of introduction in 308. It was so bad, that they rulebooked them into almost their own class.

Was this the single shot version or the regular model 12BVSS with the magazine?

Glad you were able to get one. Do you have any molds picked out to try?

No I am looking for some suggestions on a stable boolit. I was thinking about buying a few from the guys on the forum to try before I purchase a mold. I do have an lyman 311041gc to try. Don't have any dies nor a scope....
