    Tracer in 303

Maybe a bit of topic but.......
I would like to shoot tracer out of my No4 303.
    303 tracer is,to say the least,rather scarce.
I do have however some 144gn 308 tracer.
The tracer I have is nominally 307 and my No4 slugs at 311.
Is there any reason I couldnt paper patch these to make em fit?
I am thinking this may be tricky on account of only having 4 or 5 thou to play with.
Accuracy isnt a big issue, its just for fun and "can I do it?".
    What do you think chaps?

I had the same question. Isn't .303 British tracer a little scarce??

I would think that they could be patched, but you need input from someone who patches regularly.

There are some neat tracer video's on YouTube.

Load and shot it , if accuracy it's not an issue , you can do it , you have a five grooves or a two grooves bore? if it's a two grooves you have 90% of the land of .303 and 10 percent groove of .312 , a .308 bullet have plenty of surface to grip on this barrel

Good point. I will load a few up and try them. Its a 5 groove but the same theory should apply.
    Thanks for that idea.
    Will report back.

I suspect that paper patching would also cover the base to a degree that prevented the tracer from lighting properly and it would then be an expensive patched FMJ that caused disposal problems for the range due to unburnt tracers.
