This Saturday 10-8-05 is the first day of squirrel season here in West Virginia. What is significant about the opening of squirrel season is that it is the official start of our fall hunting season in West Virginia. The following week 10-15-05 is the first day of deer hunting with bows and then it's on! From now until around Christmas there is nothing that matters except hunting and stuff related to hunting. Stuff like getting tree stands ready or built, getting out the big guns, working up loads and sighting in. Cleaning out the ole hunting camp and moving out the field mice and moving in our gear. Putting out apples, salt blocks and molasses licks. Checking out the old spots for scrapes and tree rubs and just general scouting. Changing the oil in the ATV and checking the battery. Ah hunting in America, we must fight with all our might to protect this right for there are those who will take it away. It all starts this Saturday with the little bushy tails.
