View Full Version : Red Dot shotgun powder
I was told that Red Dot shotgun powder could be used on pistol loads. Does anyone have any loading data on the use of this powder for 9mm loads? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Gunloads.
While it isn't always considered one of the best powders for some jacketed bullet loads in 9x19 (although your pistol may like it just fine - every one is different), it is certainly safe and suitable for cast and jacketed loads, in use for almost a century, and all of my manuals list loads for it.
What manuals do you have that don't list it?

I have recently taken up 9mm shooting and loading (I am a confirmed round gun shooter) but I see Red Dot loads in loading manuals.
I have used it a fair amount in .44 mag
I get my best results there if I use an inside flashhole deburring tool on my brass. Red Dot otherwise is not very clean.
But my best usage to date is with shotshell capsule loading in the .44s
