Got me a spike yesterday, maybe 140# on the hoof. Young but decent sized. Ran across the road in front of us at about 70 yards. He was running away from us cutting across the road. I pulled the gun up tried to get the sights on him and threw a hail mary pass. 70 yards on the run. After I fired I was sure I missed. we walked up to where we thought he'd been and looked down the 60 foot drop at the edge of the spur and seen him piled up at the bottom. Not sure how it happened. He was bolting from left to right, so all I could see was his back side and his right quarter but the slug hit him in the left front shoulder and blew him off his feet.
Dragging him back up the almost straight up and down hill he rolled down was tough. Then we had to drag him out maybe 500 yards since we we're in a walkin unit. that was alot easier though. great day...
