There are an estimated 80 million gun owners in the United States. Only five percent of those are concerned enough about the Second Amendment to join the biggest of the “gun lobby” groups, the National Rifle Association. The numbers drop considerably for smaller organizations, such as Gun Owners of America, and many memberships overlap, with joiners pulling double (or more) duty.Of this small minority claiming the mantle of “activist” gun owners, how many actually roll up their sleeves and put in time and effort working on freedom-related activities—on top of renewing memberships and reading the magazine?
