Model 70 1939

My friend has a 1939 Model 70 close to mint condition. The release for the mag. is very difficult to push down to open the mag. I was wondering if this is normal for that model? Becouse of the fablous condition of the rifle, it would surprise me if it was damaged. I would appreciate any feedback.

I can only tell you that, while mine is NOT a nice pre-64, the magazine release on my M70 in '06 is also a bit difficult at times. However, the release on my even newer M70 Ftw in 6.5 Swede is positively a BEAR to work!

I guess Winchester didn't want an "accidental discharge" of our loaded magazines!:happy13:
