I've seen a number of suggested loads for Alliant 2400 in .30-06 w/cast bullets. Anybody ever use Accurate #9. Properties seem to be very close. I'm short on 2400 but have big jug of 9.

I have a jug of surp820, basically the same as AA#9. I got it for .223's, (that's what it was made for) but I don't see any reason not to give it a try in the -06. It ought to give decent results with low velocity cast loads. If your rifle (or mine) will shoot it accurately or not is a separate issue. From my notes, I see that I was told to use magnum primers with this powder and reduced loads for more positive ignition. As with any low density load, point the muzzle way up after chambering to get all the powder down in the base of the case before touching it off and you will get much more consistant velocities. I am generally more apt to be looking at rifle powders with cast to get the speed up to hunting velocities, but I have had decent results on paper with Unique in .308 and 7.7Arisaka.
