Hi folks, I was playing with one if my guns the otherday and realized I forgot something about her. I am refering to my 1914 .303 Brittish #1 MK III . On the wrist band( the band that goes around the hand grip area of the rear of the action) where you usually see S.M.L.E. mine says SHTLE. I once read somewhere the meaning to these letters but since have forgotten. I feel like the guy who has forgotten his wifes birthday or something. Oh how embarrasing. I know the Short Magazine Lee Enfield but can someone help me with the SHTLE?

I have some experience with loading the cartridge and a basic familiarity with the operation of the SMLE action, but I know nada about the differences in the rifle's many variations. You can find several members over on CB that are quite expert in it, and if no one here can help, I suggest you ask over there.

Thanx I have posted it in the CB and the RG as well. It really dosent mean anything too pertinant, I just cant remember what it means. maybe I should start writing things down.
