How about shooting Varget in the 6.5x50 Jap? With cast bullets?

Why not? Never hurts to experiment, that's how we learn good things sometimes. It probably wouldn't be my first choice, but I have much more experience with reduced loads for cast using IMR and Alliant powders and I know how they behave.
