Thanks Willy. It has been pretty heavy lately, maybe it will slow down after Xmas. There are some sick people out there, and some just greedy or inconsiderate. We don't need them cluttering things up here.

The new registration system has made a big difference. A few still get through, but I am quickly learning to tell the difference by looking at netnames and email addresses. For those who are legitimate and don't get by the screening system, please contact me through the forum - "Contact Us" on the tool bar at the bottom of the page - I/we will get it straightened out. I try to give the benefit of the doubt when I can. It helps a lot if your net name is a pronouncable actual name, shooting related word, or intelligible phrase. Attempts like "rghmflp6969" or "nakedbimbos4U" are unlikely to get past me.
Update.
The average weekday sees up to twenty or so trying to join us and fifty or more on a busy weekend day. Sadly, less than 5% are legitimate. Most of them are spambots with .ru and .pl origins, with the remainder .coms with obvious business edresses that have nothing to do with firearms or shooting like BuyCialisOnlineNow or an unpronounceable string of letters and numbers. It's the spammers that use actual names, especially womens names, that are now getting past me because I like to give the benefit of the doubt. I would rather accept someone and then ban them with their first spamming than automatically refuse a legitimate appearing applicant and alienate a new friend.
Again, if you are a shooter who wants to join, please choose a netname that is readable and you're halfway there. Shooting/hunting related terms and phrases work great and make it easier, but unrelated phrases, as long as they are in English will also be readily accepted, like PatsCats or DragRacer. Names and especially nicknames like DeadEyeJoe or 870Bill work, too, especially if your contact email edress is at an non-shooting related business.
If you do get rejected and you're for real, please "Contact Us" and we'll get it taken care of ASAP. Thank you and good shooting.

New to the forum, just joined yesterday and this is my first post. New to the computer stuff also and could not figure out why it took almost 24 hours to get up and running on this site but now I understand and I'm glad I made the grade. I am from NE PA and love reloading, casting bullets and experimenting with them. Shoot a lot of lever actions with cast bullets. Only ever shot small game, groundhogs and such with my cast bullets but my goal is to take a whitetail deer with one of my home brewed lead bullets. Shoot 98% of all deer with reloads. Shot a doe this year with one of my 32 win specials and Hornady gummy tipped bullet factory loads.
Sure was impressed! An 80 yard shot and bang flop. I think the tail twitched twice but that was it. Broke both shoulders and it had a 1 1/2" exit hole. Went down as fast as the one did with one of my 30-06's and one of my handloads. Well anyway folks, glad to be accepted into your group and hope to have many more posts.

Just a quick update on registration. If you are trying to join and you put numbers after your name or you have a suspicious IP address or email, I am going to assume you are a spammer unless the netname you choose is clearly gun related. We have been under heavy attack from spammers and spambots on all three forums here, but the registration system on this one pretty much keeps a lid on things. Again if you are legit and did not get accepted, contact us and we'll get it straightened out ASAP.

Hello Versifier, sorry I have not replied to your post some time ago but I have had a real merry go round in logging in. you questioned re hunting in NZ it's not too bad. Depends really on what one may want to hunt. The big lodges have private hunting where it is all laid on the hunter only stepping out of the helicopter to take the shot or sometimes not even the stepping out bit.The rest of us have free access to the conservation and national park forests the hunting permits being free. during the roar some areas are balloted usually the Wapiti (elk) blocks.) Depending on the area there are; Red deer, Fallow deer, Sika (Jap) deer, Whitetail deer on Stewart Is,Some Rusa, Wapiti (elk), Tahr sometimes spelled thar, these guys are a Himalayan mountain goat and are really high can scale 1000 foot vertical rock face at full speed.They are worth the chase as they are good eating more like lamb. and the Chamois a mountain antelope,they are faster than the tahr but not as good on the vertical face bit, still no mean target. we usually have some venison and Thar in the freezer especially shanks for slow Casserole with Rosemary, onion, celery, carrots and Dumplings. My expeditions in this area is getting a bit limited as earlier this year we set up a base camp from a helicopter at about 4500 feet and my old boiler ran out of steam at 6000 ft altitude so no shots for Graham but just looking up that extra 2000 ft with the glasses was worth the trip. fortunately my young companions had no trouble and the freezer is topped up with Chamois and Tahr adding to a bit of venison. The east side of the alps is a bit easier than us here on the west however a greater portion of our hunting is sub alpine or alpine. best of luck g
