    Default deer rifle

I am wondering if anyone prefers the 270 over the 30/06 for hunting whitetail deer??

Both great calibers and have there followings. I have 06 and several other Pa. hunters have 270's that I have been hunting with for 10 yrs. now. Ranges are100 yds. or under. I use 150 gr. Hornady usually product #3031, cheapest and they work. You don't need hi teck bullets for these cal.If you don't plan to reload and depend on store bought ammo, you will always find 06 ammo on the shelf. Just my opinion. The 270 might recoil abit less if you use 130 gr. bullets but the 270 guys I hunt with use the 140 and 150gr.....so will powder charges so close in both cases I think recoil is a moot point. Noise-muzzle blast is similar, I can't tell on shooter from the next in the mts. If I were to start over again , I'd shoot only 165 gr. and they are good for about anything.afish4570

hoppy as stated above both are fine calibers and both have lots of followers.
They are good for pretty much everything in North America.

    Good Luck Ken.
