Oh, I would be interested in that at well. My son has a 8x57 Mauser and I use to have a 7x57 Mauser, but don't have it anymore. I have everything to reload for my son's 8x57 so I sure would be interested as well.

    Default 8x57mm

The 8x57 Mauser and I are old friends, though it has more than a few years on me. I'm loading for two m98's right now, one from WWI and one from WWII, that have been shooting nothing but my handloads in for 30 years. I have come down to the Sierra 150gr Spitzer ProHunter as the most accurate all around bullet for deer sized game and target practice. I use CCI primers and prefer IMR 3031. (IMR4064 and IMR4895 perform well in it for me, too.) The two loads I use most are a target load of 35.4gr (est 2300fps mv) and my hunting load of 45.5gr (est 2700fps mv). The hunting load both rifles will keep under 2MOA (2" 10shots 100yds) and the target load both average just over 1". Sierra 175gr shot reasonably well, 2.5" or so, but the extra recoil and the heavier bullets weren't needed for my uses. Hornadys, Noslers, and Speers were also tested, and most everything up to 220grs that I tried would keep them under 4", but the Sierras were the best of the lot. I'd go with the Nos 200gr PAR's for moose (if I were not carrying my .308 with 180 PAR's). I will be starting to feed the older one a diet of cast exclusively come spring.
If I can see it, I can hit it. Now, where did I put my glasses?
