    Welcome to Gunloads Neil,

From Handloader's manual of Cartridge Conversions:

    .32-40 Winchester
MAKE FROM: .375Win. Anneal case, cut to length, & chamfer. F/L size.

Not to be confused with .32-40 Bullard or .32-40 Remington Hepburn, both of which are formed from .303Brit.
If I can see it, I can hit it. Now, where did I put my glasses?

    Default 32-40

Neil you should be able to build from 38-55, 30-30, 32 Win Sp or even 25-35.
The 25-35 and the 30-30 will be short but the 32 and the 38-55 should work fine.
