Boy, if you can't kill it with that bullet then it didn't come from this planet!!! That is a LOT of lead.

    contemplate

    Canuck4570,
Here's something to contemplate. Since you'll be going sans GC, big and heavy and slow (582 gr. wow). think about getting one of those heavy things HP'd. it will aid expansion at those low speeds and since at that weight they're liable to go completely through anything anyway, might as well make a 2" diameter hole through stuff rather than a 1/2" hole.
By the way, what's the twist rate on that Steyr? is it fast enough for that long a CB?

hi canuck glad to see that i am not the only one that wanted a 450Marlin boltgun!! i built my gun on a savage 110 lh action. the load that i like is 330hp(457122)/55gr aa2230/wlr with a GC upside down between the powder and boolit. this load will do 2100fps form my gun and stay inside 3"at200yds. IMHO this will make a great whitetale load Clint

    1/20 twist
if you go to JBM ballistic they have a stability factor and it ok for that twist its a new way made by a certain miller and it is suppose to be much more accurate than the green hill formula
on the JBM their is god reading concerning this .... I have the book "applied ballistics for long range shooting by Bryan Litz who work's for Berger bullet and their is a chapter on this
also this bullet shoot very accurate in my ruger 4570 so it mus be correct
as for the hollow point there is a thread on cast bullet showing a drill press vice rig up to make hollow point Yes you can bet on it they will be hollowpointed....
    thank you for advice

and on top of that you are able to use long bore riding nose
the mag in the Steyr is 3.125 inside length

You need a varmit bullet for that rig. Why not a 485gr PP cast of pure lead. No hollow point needed and you can go for serious velocity using jacketed data.

    Just a thought.........

You oughta try getting some brass up here for the .45-110 and .50-140 Sharps cartridges. I'd love to get brass for a buck a piece. I'm looking at between $4 and $5 now that the US gov't has clamped down on brass exports.
