Neighbor gave me a rifle. No bolt, no magazine. It is a Savage. No model number but barrel reads "Super Sporter." It is in .30-30. Anybody know where I can get the missing parts?

Never rassle with a pig, you will both get dirty and the pig likes it!
Welcome Msgt.
Look up a model 225 at the above link, I think you might get lucky. There were a bunch of them, all pretty much the same just minor differences, and some were sold with other names on them, too, IIRC. If that doesn't work, post a picture and we'll figure it out.
If I can see it, I can hit it. Now, where did I put my glasses?
if its old may be model 40,new ones are model 340 bolt ass complete is $80 and mag is $24.85. they make good shooters.
GUN PARTS is where I got prices but you might try Savage as they would have to headspace it.:
Asked Gun Parts Corp.. She said sounded like 340 but without a model number on rifle she wasn't sure. Research elsewhere suggests it may be a Model 40 but again, not sure. I want to order the correct parts but am unsure how to proceed.
I'm quite new to this. Don't know how to post a photo. Will you help?
1) Open an account for picture hosting, like on the main page here http://gunloads.com/index.php . I have never used ours but it should be standard procedure;
2) Upload your pics (probably from your Desktop/floppy/etc...; "browse" to find the upload location). You will get addresses for them;
3) In your post, write (copy and paste the stuff, from http to .jpg), or hit in the Message toolbar.
The pic should show in Preview Post, or you can edit your post later.
Please try to keep its size around 100kb for dial-up users, or chose the thumbnail option.
Let me know if it doesn't work.

You need to store your picture online on a specialized website, so that it can be available to us when you are offline.
This is my photobucket.com account (need to register first):
Top right You will Browse your computer for the picture, then Upload it to photobucket's storage.
Once done, your pic will appear bottom left; click on "IMG Code" and paste in your message here.
You say I must register first. How do I do that? You probably won't find anyone more computer illiterate than me. You say browse my computer. Duh! You say upload. Duh! I'm all out of paste. Don't know how to do that either. Thanks for the effort.

Go to http://photobucket.com/
Infiltrate the site by "joining now"
Left (mouse) Clicking the Browse and Upload (site) buttons will trigger the functions;
Right Clicking your mouse will display the paste function.
Best is to have your picture ready on the desktop of your PC.
Which part?
Did you have your pic ready on your desktop (screen)? How big is it (right click for properties)?
Could you register at photobucket?
Could you locate the pic with the Browse function?
Did you upload it then?
Hi there,
I was born and raised in Yerington. My name is Tony Gable. Do you know any of the Gable's there. I'm related to them all. Anyway, back to you question. Have you taken the stock off to see if the serial and moled number are on the underside of the barrel. Just a thought. I have seen them there on older guns.

Not on desktop. Don't know how. Have registered at photo bucket. Got picture of rifle in album.
For Mr. Gable: Looked under stock. No info.
Lived here 10 yrs. Don't know any Gables. Looked in phone book. Found A. M Gable, Don Gable & P. Gable of Yerington.
You're about done. Next time you write a message:
a) In your Photobucket account, Left click in the IMG Code window until it highlights and you see the "Copied" word appear;
b) In your message here, Right click then "paste".
As an alternative, copy the public address of your Photobucket album (from the URL window of you browser), and paste it in the message (should look like http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/z45/yourname/).
We'll get there and look at the pic.

Is this it?
By the way, NEVER EVER call a Marine "Sarge." That's Army talk. It is the 2nd thing a Marine recruit learns in boot camp (don't ask what the 1st is).
If the above let's you see photo thank you. The Marine Corps has an age old saying, "Every Marine is a rifleman." There is no such saying as "Every Marine is a computer whiz."
It works, and you're welcome.
I can now add on my resume that I have "successfully trained Marine in technological communication applications applied to deconfliction of modern environment" .

Again I say, "Duh." Can you identify the rifle?
