The Nation will be Watching Missouri Next Wednesday
Will Billionaire Bloomberg buy the Show-Me State?

Beginning next Wednesday, the Missouri legislature will decide whether to overturn Governor Jay Nixon’s veto of House Bill 436 -- Missouri’s so-called “nullification bill.”

If the veto is overridden, it will be illegal in Missouri to enforce unconstitutional laws that take away your Second Amendment rights. The bill also guarantees that concealed carry permit holders will be allowed to carry openly in jurisdictions in Missouri. And it will allow the designation of elementary and secondary school teachers and administrators as school protection officers.

The bill is absolutely necessary because, as you may have noticed, Barack Obama has declared himself “king.” The laws and even the Constitution seem to pose no impediment on his doing anything he wants to further his political agenda, even if clearly illegal.

We have seen this, particularly, with his unconstitutional executive actions on gun control -- actions that include compiling databases of law-abiding gun owners during routine annual inspections of dealers and encouraging doctors to ask about and enter gun-related information into a national health database established by the stimulus bill.

But make no mistake about it: The gun-hating Left is terrified. They have done everything in their power to defeat this legislation, including pleading with us to surrender, because, in their view, this law would be doomed by anti-gun Obama judges,

We’ll see. The operative provision of House Bill 436 nullifies any federal law which “infringe[s] on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article I, Section 13 of the Missouri Constitution….”

We’ll see whether even Obama judges will find that it’s fine to enforce laws that violate constitutional rights. You have to expect, however, that, if New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his anti-gun allies believed their rhetoric, they wouldn’t be fighting so hard to sustain the governor’s veto.

So here’s the situation: The bill was initially passed by a bipartisan vote of 116-38 in the House and 26-6 in the Senate. Since it only takes 109 and 23 votes, respectively, to override the veto, the veto will be overridden unless there are switches by legislators who just pretended to support the Second Amendment the first time around, because their anti-gun votes weren’t needed.

Bloomberg has done his best to buy Missouri and a lot of other states for his gun-control agenda. If we defeat him now, we will send a loud message to other states considering similar legislation.

So make no mistake about it: What Missouri does will have an impact across the country. So work hard … and change history. The opportunity doesn’t come by that often.

NOTE: There will be a “pro-Second Amendment” rally taking place at the state capitol on Wednesday. Please plan to attend if you can.
