Tomorrow is the Day in Jefferson City
Make sure your legislators hear your voice!
Tomorrow is the big day, when the Missouri legislature will decide whether to overturn Governor Jay Nixon’s veto of House Bill 436 -- Missouri’s so-called “nullification bill.”

As we noted last week, a veto-override would mean:

* Concealed carry permit holders will be allowed to carry openly in jurisdictions in Missouri;

* Elementary and secondary school teachers and administrators can be designated as school protection officers; and,

* It will be illegal in Missouri to enforce unconstitutional laws that take away your Second Amendment rights.

Regarding the last point, the operative provision in HB 436 nullifies any federal law which “infringe[s] on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article I, Section 13 of the Missouri Constitution….”

Again, the veto will be overridden unless there are switches by legislators who just pretended to support the Second Amendment the first time around, because their anti-gun votes weren’t needed.

So your state Representative and Senator need to hear from you. And they need to see you in person, which is why there will be a pro-Second Amendment rally taking place at the state capitol tomorrow.

Please plan on attending.

ACTION: This is your last chance to contact your state senator and representative. Ask your friends, relatives, and neighbors to do the same. Demand that your legislators vote to overturn Governor Nixon’s veto of House Bill 436.

Dear

The Missouri legislature will soon decide whether to overturn Governor Jay Nixon’s veto of House Bill 436 -- Missouri’s so-called “nullification bill.”

Among other things, a veto-override would mean that it will be illegal in Missouri to enforce unconstitutional laws that take away your Second Amendment rights.

The operative provision in HB 436 nullifies any federal law which “infringe[s] on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article I, Section 13 of the Missouri Constitution….”

The bill is absolutely necessary because Barack Obama has ignored the Constitution, while pursuing a political agenda that is clearly illegal.

We have seen this, particularly, with his unconstitutional executive actions on gun control -- actions that include compiling databases of law-abiding gun owners during routine annual inspections of dealers and encouraging doctors to ask about and enter gun-related information into a national health database established by the stimulus bill.

Your job as a state legislator is to rein in these federal abuses. As stated by Alexander Hamilton in Federalist Paper 28: “It may safely be received as an axiom in our political system that the State governments will, in all possible contingencies, afford complete security against invasions of the public liberty by the national authority.”

Please vote to overturn Governor Nixon’s veto of House Bill 436.

Sincerely,
