[I joined Gunvoter.org as a Moderator, and have tried to be as helpful to Jeff Knox as I can be. I agree with his concept and hope to see this Forum become exactly what he, and his Brother Chris, want it to be, check it out and if you like what you see consider joining the cause. KellyJ]

How It's Intended to Work

by JeffKnox on 30 Jul 2008 11:25

The object of the GunVoter Project is to collect as much firearms-related information about as many politicians as possible and make that information conveniently available to the general public. To work as intended and be an effective tool for the gun rights movement, the site must contain lots of useful information. GunVoter.org, The Firearms Coalition, and Neal Knox Associates do not have large paid staffs to conduct research and compile data about candidates. If the job is going to get done, it is going to have to be done by the site members. If each member will look to their own voting district and submit information on the candidates that will be on their own ballots in November, the project will be close to reaching its objective. From there all that will be needed is a few members (including GunVoter staff) to go the extra mile to flesh out and organize the information and GunVoter.org will be the useful tool that it was envisioned to be.
Most people don't begin looking at politicians until just a few weeks before an election. When they do begin looking and thinking, what will they find? It is currently difficult to locate reliable information about candidates and their positions on guns - especially lower-ticket candidates and candidates outside one's home voting district. It is up to those of us who are paying attention to politics and the gun issue all of the time to draw a map for these masses of lost voters seeking information. The experts tell us that until early October, less than 10% of the population is paying any attention at all to politics beyond the minimal exposure they get from news about major campaigns like the Presidential race.
If we can build a site that's easy to find and which has lots of easily accessible information about candidates, we can make a positive impact in elections. For the record, http://www.GunVoter.org does not endorse or oppose any candidates or parties. Our sole objective is to compile information about candidates so voters can cast their votes from a position of knowledge.
The only way GunVoter.org will actually work is if members share their knowledge and participate.
Please join us in this effort. Share the information you have. Do a little research and share your findings. Ask questions of our informed membership, and tell your friends and family about this site.
GunVoter.org only works if we all work and the more all of us do, the less any of us will need to do so please, pitch in and join the crew.
Yours for the Second Amendment,
Jeff Knox
